‘The Heart of Light, The Silence
October - December 2020

At the end of the lines
Two works on show at the exhibition of paintings made in Norwich and Great Yarmouth in 2019. It is a survey of how a range of painters from specific locations are painting now. The title alludes to the fact that Norwich and Great Yarmouth are at the end of train lines, but could also suggest painting as a process being at the end of drawing a line, or the contemporary situation of political change being the end of a line, or the difficulty of drawing a line under something.

also of dogs & ferns

When I reckon up my real ignorance, pal,
I mumble "many returns"—
